Adult Community Service

The community service division of Campus Ministry has many opportunities for current parents, grandparents, alumni, parents of alumni, and friends of Marist School to become involved in service and discipleship.

  • Adopt a Family at Christmas

    Spread some joy by providing and delivering Christmas gifts to a family in need. Contact Mrs. Karen Shanahan
  • Bashor Homeless Men’s Shelter

    On six Friday evenings during the winter months, Marist students and parents provide dinner, breakfast, and lunch for the men who stay overnight at Central Presbyterian Church and the Catholic Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Parent and student volunteers deliver and serve the evening meal, and overnight volunteers help monitor the shelter and distribute breakfast and lunch to-go bags in the morning.   • Centro Hispano Marista

    Centro Hispano Marista, founded by the Society of Mary in 2012, offers Hispanic adults the opportunity to obtain their GEDs. Volunteer instructors and other classroom volunteers are welcomed during Tuesday evening sessions September through May.

  • Driving Force of the Men's Bible Study

    The Men’s Bible Study has created the Driving Force ministry, which transports people on Sundays from local MARTA stations to Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption.

  • Habitat for Humanity Chaperone

    Two supervisors (no construction experience required) are needed to supervise the eight Marist students who volunteer for the seven  Saturdays in the fall for the Habitat for Humanity Build. Contact Mrs. Melissa Egan or Mrs. Kristen McDermond
  • Marist Women Build

    Marist Women Build gathers women in the Marist community to construct a home for a deserving family. 


  • My Sister's House - Women's and Children's Shelter

    On the first Sunday of each month (October-May), a group of Marist mothers serve a homemade dinner to the residents of My Sister's House, a shelter for women and children at the Atlanta Mission on Howell Mill Road.
  • Thanksgiving Meals for Families in Need

    Marist School collects food items for meals for families who are struggling to make ends meet. Donations of food are needed as well as volunteers to deliver the meals to the families in need. Contact Mrs. Karen Shanahan
  • Trinity House - Residential transitional housing program

     
    Trinity House is a residential transitional program designed to serve homeless men with issues regarding drug dependency. Each month, a group of Marist students bring a dinner to share at the home with the men. 

    A parent volunteer coordinates the meal and contacts parents who are willing to make a meat casserole, a vegetable, salad, or dessert for approximately 35 people. The donated food is delivered to Campus Ministry at afternoon carpool for the students to bring to the shelter. 

    Opportunities for service include cooking, baking, or driving and chaperoning the students.
