Financial Aid

A Marist School education is a priceless investment in a child’s future. It is our goal that no student be denied the opportunity of attending Marist School because of financial need. For the 2011-2012 school year, Marist School awarded approximately $1.6 Million in need-based financial aid. However, each year, the requests for financial assistance exceed the funding available. Therefore, it is necessary to establish policies and procedures for distributing financial aid to ensure consistency and fairness.

Purpose of Financial Aid

  • To permit the development of a richly diverse student population by making Marist School accessible to students from varying economic backgrounds
  • To allow for the student’s full participation in Marist School curricular and extra-curricular activities where additional fees are required
  • To allow for the continued enrollment of students whose families experience economic reversals arising from events such as death in the family, sudden medical issues, or unemployment.

Types of Awards distributed through Financial Aid

  • Tuition assistance will be awarded to reduce the tuition obligation of a family with demonstrated need.
  • For families receiving aid in excess of $13000, an activity fee reduction will be awarded. The reduction will be equal to the percentage of tuition assistance awarded.
  • The Marist Work-Study program is available for a limited number of students to earn tuition credit for performing a minimum number of hours of work for Marist School during the summer.
  • All financial aid awards are for one year only. Reapplication is necessary each year.

Expenses not covered by Financial Aid

Financial Aid does not cover the cost of books, uniforms, lunch, and extraordinary school trips such as non-mandatory travel as part of a particular course, foreign language exchange program, or mission trip.

Applying for Financial Aid

The Marist School Financial Aid Committee evaluates each family’s application and determines the amount of award. This confidential process takes into account each family’s financial situation. Demonstrated family need is the sole basis of an award. There are no merit-based scholarships of any kind. Financial aid is awarded without regard to religion, race, national and ethnic origin, or gender. Admissions decisions are made independent of a family’s ability to pay the full cost of education.
