Name: Ms. Dee Lane EadesGrad Year: 1979
Dee Lane Eades was raised in Atlanta and has stayed loyal to her town. Loyalty is her second name. She is loyal to her friends and family and even maintains close ties to friends from as far back as kindergarten. Her involvement for her family is close to her heart.
She and her friends all attended Montgomery Elementary School in the Brookhaven/Atlanta area of DeKalb County and then split up as the friends went to one high school and Dee Lane attended Marist School in Atlanta, Georgia and graduated in 1979. In the fall of 1979, Dee Lane went off to Athens, Georgia where she attended the University of Georgia and had a full social and academic career. She joined Delta Gamma Fraternity and was initiated in the winter of 1980. She graduated from the University of Georgia in winter of 1984 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Education with a concentration in Commercial Recreation. If you are doing the math, she stayed for one extra football season and finished up one quarter behind her scheduled graduation date but not without honors, she made Dean’s List once more, even in her final term! This degree objective led her to begin her work career in the country club arena where she was an assistant Club Manager responsible for all Club activities and private events in north Fulton County.
As her love for the special events portion of her career expanded, so did her want to move forward with bigger and more spectacular events being produced. In 1990, Dee Lane joined the sales and event planning team of Events Catering located in Inman Park and had a ten year successful run producing and executing events of all sizes and in both the social and corporate world. With her expertise of organization and salesmanship, she was asked to join the Atlanta TEAM of sales people at BBJ Linen. In addition to the linen sales, she formed her own privately owned and operated event planning company of Atlanta Classic Events and still keeps her hand in the full on production of event planning of events through Atlanta Classic Events.
In January 2010, the yen to do something bigger again struck and Dee Lane joined with co-owners of Graceful Tables, a specialty linen rental company catering to the special events industry, as an owner/investor and part of the large network of the sales team of Graceful Tables. The new endeavor is off and running and growth and expansion are the word of the day.
Along with her work career, Dee Lane participates in community work through her Marist Alma Mater as Vice-President Special Events for the Alumni Association where she assists in producing events to create an atmosphere to bring other alums together for fellowship, fun and fund raising. In addition to activities to assist the school, the Alumni Association also participates in community assistance through clothing drives, monetary donations to needy groups and tuition assistance for those students in need. Along with helping out her community through her Marist ties, Dee Lane donates time, energy and efforts through her Delta Gamma Alumni Association. Through these philanthropies, there are annual drives for clothing donation and many other community service opportunities where involvement for Dee Lane is a fulfilling part of her life.
Additionally, Dee Lane assists her community through her ties with the National Association of Catering Executives where she currently holds a local position on the Atlanta Board as the Vice-President of Education. As the VP of Education, she is responsible for overseeing the production of programs for the special events industry to further enhance education opportunities for members as well as community service projects for the members to participate in. These community service projects include monetary and food donations to Atlanta’s Table, Back to School supplies for children in the community as well as clothing and coat drives in the winter months. She also volunteers her time to NACE on the national level by sitting on several committees to assist in maintaining the high standards and ideals of the industry she has aligned herself with.
Another association that receives Dee Lane’s attention is the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau where she has been sitting on the boards for the last several years as both a membership volunteer through the “Bureau Buddies” program where she received the Bureau Buddy of the Year award twice as well as on the membership committee for the ACVB. The belief that personal growth as well as professional growth is a large part of the reason behind volunteering is a belief that Dee Lane shares with her peers and associates by assisting all to reach for the highest potential.
All in all, Dee Lane Eades tries to be an integral part of all teams she involves herself with. Be it family or friends, work or social, Dee Lane is there to get the job done in a nurturing, timely, organized and professional way. Loyalty is her second name.
