 | Marist Baseball is a TRADITION OF CHAMPIONSHIPS. In 2011, the War Eagles, led by Head Coach Mike Strickland, captured their second consecutive AAAA State Baseball Championship, the 12th State Baseball Championship in school history, the most by any school in Georgia high school history. The team was ranked 4th in the nation by ESPN and BaseballAmerica.
The first State Championship came in 1949 and after a dry spell, Head Coach Jerry Queen led the War Eagles to five titles in 1977, '81, '83, '84 and '85. Head Coach Steve Franks followed those with two more in 1990 and 1993 and with that squad ranked 10th in the nation. Head Coach Dan Perez, who played for Coach Queen and assisted Coach Franks, continued the tradition by adding championship hardware to the Marist trophy case with back-to-back titles in 2002 and 2003. |
