Aces for the Cure
The varsity girls tennis team has partnered with the Susan G. Komen “for the Cure” foundation in its fight against breast cancer. The girls are seeking pledges and donations for all the “aces” they serve during all tennis matches that began Tuesday (April 15) with the beginning of the region tournament and will continue as long as they continue to play this year, hopefully till the state championships on May 10. The theme is “Aces for the Cure.” They are seeking pledges for total team aces or individual aces served. The team is made up of: Laura Pattillo, Alyssa Gale, KellyAnn Gorman, Tess Gale, Cameron Greene, Elizabeth King, Alexa Svensson , Chandler DeWitt, Meghan Flinn, Lauren Creel, Katherine Deily, Shannon Murdy and Elizabeth Vermillion. If one wishes to make a pledge for aces served or make a donation, you can see one of the girls or Fr. Kissel. Checks are made payable to: Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Spring Sports
The Marist baseball team beat St. Pius 9 to 3 and Washington 14 to 2. The boys lacrosse team lost 12 to 3 to Decatur and 15 to 4 to Pius. Girls lacrosse lost to Milton 20 to 8. Boys soccer won 3 to 2 in overtime against Habersham Central. Girls soccer won 4 to 1 against Heritage. Boys tennis won 4 to 0 against Winder Barrow. Girls tennis won 3 to 0 against Habersham Central. The boys track team is second in the region. David Connolly, Joe Bailey, and Jack Bell have all qualified for state. The girls track team is fifth in the region, with Lydia Arias and Megan Mavity going on to compete at state.

Track Banquet
Marist’s track banquet will be May 12 at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria. Food will be provided by Pig-N-Chik BBQ. Twenty-five volunteers are needed to bring desserts. Please contact Rita Campbell at to volunteer. Please RSVP by May 6 to attend.
