Marist Women Build

Dedication day is upon us!  Our historic simultaneous build of two Habitat houses was completed on May 9 with dedication ceremonies for each.  Thanks to all of our sister schools who worked so hard alongside our own team of workers to build houses for these two deserving families.  Please check out the Marist Web site for more information about the build.  And to see pictures, visit our photo album:  http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8QatHLZyycsZU.  As we wind down our season, we are thankful to all who helped us reach our long-held goal of extending this project to other area schools.  The Marist Women Build experience is a powerful one. Consider joining the team!

Eucharistic Congress

The Eucharistic Congress will be Saturday, June 13 located at the Georgia International Convention  Center.  It begins at 8:00 a.m. and includes participants from every parish and school in the Archdiocese.  The event continues throughout the day with workshops, music, presentations on a variety of topics, and an exhibit pavilion.  The day closes with a Vigil Mass at 5:30 p.m. and is co-celebrated by many of the priests in the Archdiocese, and we invite all Marist parents and students to join us at the Congress.  Please see or call Fr. David at 770-936-2260 or Teresa Gaskin at 404-841-8274 to sign up for the Congress.  Visit the  Eucharistic Congress Web site www.archatl.com/congress to learn more about the guest speakers.  Thank you for your consideration and support for this exciting and fulfilling day of faith and fun.  Check the June e-newsletter for more details.

Marist Mothers Prayer Group

As the school year comes to a close, the prayer group is pleased to announce that Cathy Bertasi and Carol Curren will be the co-presidents beginning in June.  Sharon Bowman and Kathy Cote will assume the role of co-vice presidents and will be responsible for handling prayer requests.  We thank these ladies for serving in this ministry to Marist and to the students and their families for the coming year.  A complete listing of the full new board will be posted to the Marist Web site soon.

The Mothers Prayer Group is an ecumenical group of mothers who gather together monthly during the school year to pray for Marist students, faculty, and their families.  Our regular meetings will begin in September 2009.

We thank all of those who served in board positions this past year and for those who attended our meetings.

To submit a prayer request, please email:  maristmothers@gmail.com .  Please remember that the requests are for Marist students, faculty, priests and their families and that you must have permission from that person to submit the request.  Submissions may be kept anonymous.

If you have any questions about our group, please call Becky Bain, 770-664-8409 or Lisa Dempster, 770-396-2050

About Reach for Excellence:  Located on the Marist campus, Reach for Excellence is a program that provides talented middle school students, who possess limited opportunities and resources, with the preparation to succeed in college preparatory programs and high schools. Each spring, Reach for Excellence selects 30 academically talented, educationally underserved 6th graders to begin participating in the program. Admitted students and their families commit to three years’ involvement, consisting of three six-week summer sessions and two years of Saturday classes.  For more information, go to ReachForExcellence.org.

Reach for Excellence Summer Session begins June 11

If you are on the Marist campus this summer you may see approximately 120 students from metro-Atlanta  participating in Reach for Excellence.  We look forward to welcoming a new class of highly qualified students to our ninth summer program.
