Faculty Luncheons
Thank you to the seventh grade parents for "treating the palettes" of our faculty and staff to a colorful luncheon salad bar. Special thanks to 7th grade coordinators: Kathy Wochele, Gina Steers and Susan Viers; Hostess volunteers Joy Slade, Ann Cavagagh, Marie Frank, Sheri Perez ,Missy MacGinnitie; and Anne Whitaker for the incredible artist's palette cake. All efforts and donations were greatly appreciated; the event would not have been possible without the generous contributions from the 7th grade class. Thank You! Cindy Hunt and Ellen Sullivan. Faculty Appreciation Co-Chairs.
The Event
Thanks to all who helped make the evening such a huge success. We knew from the positive response to the on-line auction that this was truly going to "Make Memories".
The items donated for the on-line, silent and live auctions created excitement and lots of bidding. The tuition raffle was as a success; congratulations to our winners, the Charles family. If you purchased a "TINI" from the table, be sure to get your stone tested. The diamond has still not been claimed!!
When the economy of the country took a strong detour this fall, we decided to adjust the main thrust of the evening from one on fundraising to one of strengthening the bonds within the Marist Community. Not only were we successful in that goal, we did achieve our other goal–to raise funds to support Marist School. The committee chairs helped make the night flow with such ease that all who attended felt as though they were at a "house party". Several attendees noted that with the great food, plenty of drink, new activities and fellow Marist parents in attendance, it was hard not to enjoy the evening.
Again to all who helped in any way with THE EVENT "Thanks for The Memories."

Project Graduation
In keeping with Marist tradition, the graduating class of 2009 will celebrate their final Marist moments with an all-night party at the YMCA on the night of graduation, May 23. The evening will begin with a Mass, followed by nonstop entertainment, great food, prizes and friendship. Project Graduation begins at 11 p.m. and students must wear their Project Graduation T-shirt to enter the party. Signed waivers are required. Pick up is 5:30 a.m. PLEASE NOTE THAT STUDENTS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO DRIVE TO OR FROM THIS EVENT, AND MUST BE DRIVEN BY THE PARENT.
The planning and chaperoning of this party is a traditional gift from the parents of the junior class. All parents of the junior class are asked to help chaperone or assist in food handling, decorations, clean up, etc. To volunteer, or for any questions, please contact this year’s chairmen, Becky Bain at 770-664-8409 or Joan Wrigley at 770-840-1093.
On behalf of the entire Project Graduation Committee, Becky and Joan thank the senior and junior parents in advance for their support, and look forward to hosting this final celebration of our 2009 Marist graduates.
Used Books
The Marist Parents' Club Used Book Committee will host a used book swap for all grades on Monday, June 8th from 4-7pm in the arcade. Last year this proved to be a successful forum for parents and students to buy and sell used books. Prices are set by sellers with consideration given to the condition of the books. Negotiation is an option. Buyers pay sellers directly and only cash or checks are accepted.
There will also be an opportunity to drop off used books to be shipped to MBS Direct. MBS Direct is Marist's online textbook partner. The EZ drop buyback will be Tuesday, June 9th from 8am to 1 p.m. and later that same day from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Centennial Lower Lobby. Before books are brought to Centennial for shipment, students or their parents must go to the MBS website and develop and print two copies of their quote/packing list. MBS sends payment for used books directly to families within 30 days.
More details about these two events will be forthcoming. If you would like to volunteer to help for either the book swap or the MBS EZ drop buyback, or if you have any questions regarding used books, please contact Julie Moyers at jumoyers@bellsouth.net or Beth Southers at bethsouthers@bellsouth.net.
