Although the first day of school is several weeks away, fall sports teams at Marist are starting to prepare for their 2011 seasons.

The varsity football team began preseason camp at Riverside Military Academy in Gainesville on Sunday, July 31. They will host Centennial High School in a preseason scrimmage on Thursday, August 18, and begin region competition against Douglass High School in Hughes Spalding Stadium on Friday, August 26.

Softball and volleyball teams begin practices on August 1. The softball team will scrimmage St. Pius X at Marist on Wednesday, August 10, and opens their regular season in Dalton at the Lakeview-Ft. Oglethorpe Tournament on August 19 & 20. Coach Kendall Reid-Webster’s varsity volleyball squad also starts with a preseason scrimmage at Westminster on August 10, and begins their 2011 schedule at home against Northview and Northgate on August 18.

The cross country squad has been logging miles all summer long to defend their boys and girls State Championships, and they start their 2011 season on August 27 at Our Lady of Mercy.
