Athletics Update
The varsity boys’ basketball team has ended its time in the state playoffs. Despite strong wins against first round opponent Lithia Springs (55-39) and Rockdale County (65-50), the War Eagles lost 60-51 against region 6-AAAA rival Miller Grove. The Wolverines beat Marist twice earlier in the season—44-35 in the regular season and 58-47 in the region tournament. The War Eagles finish out the season ranked eighth in their class, with a 20-8 record.

The Marist baseball team has battled its opponents but is currently on the short end of the scoreboard. They opened the season with three tough losses: Cartersville (4-3), Lassiter (3-2), and Greenbrier (6-1) at the home opener.
Head Coach Mike Strickland’s squad has 15 new players (including five sophomores) that are going into varsity battles for the first time. Their youth and inexperience have shown at times in the early games, but they are expected to battle for the region title and hope to advance deep into the state playoffs.
The young War Eagles continue to fight, and they finally posted a win with a 7-6 victory over McEachern and an 11-11 tie against Collins Hills. Unfortunately, they lost momentum and the next three games—Fernandina Beach, FL (6-3), Brookwood (2-1), and Parkview (3-1). The boys started term 3 on stronger footing, with a 5-4 win at home against Hillgrove. On Friday, March 16, the baseball team will face off against Redan.
