Since 1912, War Eagle Fever has electrified the air as fans have cheered the team on to numerous victories. The varsity team’s consistent winning seasons have placed it in the Top 5 best in the state of Georgia. Marist has 7th, 8th, and 9th grade football teams, as well as junior varsity and varsity levels.

Marist Gets Revenge vs Lovett
9/9/2014
On their first Friday night game of the season, the Marist War Eagles stepped up to black out Lovett – a team that won in overtime against them last season. Marist fans, decked out in black, came to watch their team claim revenge. And it was sweet revenge for the War Eagles this year – winning comfortably with a score of 27-7.

Senior Joey Gogol's 19-yard field goal with 8 seconds remaining in regulation earned Marist a hard-fought 17-14 win over visiting Tallahassee (FL) Godby in the Battle of the Borders at Hallford Stadium, Saturday, August 30.


War Eagles End Football Season in 4 Overtime Loss

Revenge came Friday night to Hughes Spalding Memorial Stadium when the visiting Carrollton Trojans defeated Marist in a four-overtime, 44-42 game.  The War Eagles had defeated the Trojans last year at home in the second round of playoffs in five overtimes, but this time around, Carrollton proved that they would be the ones moving on.

Even with tough competition in the third round of playoffs and an away field disadvantage, the War Eagles had no problem bringing their all 180 miles away to Waynesboro, Georgia. Their 42-20 win against the Burke County Bears on Friday solidified a move into the semifinals, putting Marist just one week away from a possible game in the Dome.


Marist Football Makes Quick Work of First Round Opponent

Despite a dreary rain that trickled nonstop on players from both sides, the Marist War Eagles had little to fear Friday night as they defeated the Stephens County Indians in a 41-13 win. The War Eagles now move on to the second round, next taking on Gilmer High School on their road to the dome.

In a 24-20 victory over the Oakland Raiders, New York Giants safety Cooper Taylor (holding ball) scores on a 21-yard return of a blocked punt.  Taylor is a Class of 2008 graduate of Marist.  It was the Giant's first score off a blocked punt since 1988.

Boston College freshman Myles Willis (Marist '13) has discovered a natural talent for a position that was off-limits to him in high school.


Myles Willis (Marist '13) Named BC Eagle-of-the-Week

Sophomore McKenzie Meehan (Women’s Soccer) and true freshman Myles Willis (Football) were named Eagles-of-the-Week for their performances on the field last week.
Willis recorded a game-high 211 all-purpose yards in BC’s 48-34 loss to No. 8 Florida State on Saturday.  He caught four passes for 69 yards and a touchdown – the first of his career, a season-long 52-yard pass with 2:10 left in the third quarter.  He also returned three kickoffs for 114 yards, including a season-long 71-yard return on the opening play of the second half.  He also rushed five times for 28 yards (5.6 yards per carry) against the Seminoles.

Kendall Baker Selected Lineman-of-the-Week by Atlanta Touchdown Club

The Atlanta Touchdown Club announced that it has selected Marist defensive lineman Kendall Baker as their Lineman-of-the-Week.  He will be presented his award at the ATC's weekly luncheon on Monday, September 16 at 103 West.  The guest speaker for the luncheon will be former UGA quarterback, David Greene.
