Marist School Library

The Mission

Along with a lifelong love of reading and learning nurtured by the library during their time at Marist School, graduates will demonstrate information literacy. Through active and creative pursuit, students will exercise their abilities in reading to access information in a variety of formats and from multiple sources presenting different perspectives. Students will critically evaluate this information to construct meaning and form opinions that reflect the moral and ethical spirit of the Marist tradition.

The Staff

Our library’s two librarians and two part-time paraprofessionals collaborate with classroom teachers and offer instruction to students in the research process. Teachers sign up to bring classes to the library for large group instruction on research specific to each project and age group. Individuals and small groups of students may come to the library at any time for reading, research, and study.

The Collection

Materials are selected for the library after considering their ability to support the curriculum and the reading interests of students and faculty. The library’s physical collection contains over 16,000 items in a wide variety of formats, augmented by a growing collection of eBooks. Increasingly, our digital holdings – including databases of peer-reviewed journals, historical periodicals, and literary criticism – maximize our students’ ability to locate reliable, timely information for research. Passwords and user names allow students simultaneous, remote access around the clock to all digital holdings. Please log in to the library portal to access your user names and passwords.

Destiny, the library catalog, and the library portal, the perfect starting point for research, can be viewed from any Internet enabled device 24 hours a day.

The Physical Facility

Centrally located in the Wooldridge Building and with hours that allow use before and after school as well as during the school day, the library features seating for 170, including study carrels, tables for group work or instruction, a silent study area, and a reading lounge.
