  • Wrestlers Enjoy Holiday Competition Success

Marist Wrestling had a busy holiday season beginning with a 7th Place finish at the McCallie Invitational Wrestling Tournament in Chattanooga and concluded with a 5th Place finish at the Holy Innocent's Prep Slam.  The War Eagle wrestlers continued to exceed expectations as at the McCallie Tournament with sophomore Andrew Pace and senior Max Blanchard each earning 3rd Place finishes followed by juniors Grey (5th) and Reed Bethune (6th).
Just before Christmas (Dec. 21), Marist hosted 5 teams for our 2nd Annual Reindeer Games.  The War Eagles topped the teams from Westminster, Rockmart, Pike County and North Hall but came up short against a very tough Jackson County team.  Right after Christmas (Dec. 28), Marist hosted 3 teams, beating Southeast Whitfield but losing to Mountain View and Hillgrove teams.  The team finished out holiday competition with a terrific 5th Place showing at the Holy Innocents’ Annual Prep Slam where Andrew Pace won his second Prep Slam title and earned an Outstanding Wrestler Award for the tournament.  He was followed by senior Cameron Self along with Reed and Grey Bethune all placing 3rd and junior Jer'Miah Fantroy and senior Max Blanchard each placing 4th. The 5th Place finish ties the program’s highest finish at this event and the accolade of top competing private school in the state.
