Retreats
Marist offers a variety of retreats throughout the school year which give students an opportunity to reflect on their faith and their relationships with friends and family. Retreats are a memorable time to connect with classmates and re-energize spiritually, and are often a highlight of a student's time here at Marist. All of our retreats are student-led and coordinated by Campus Ministry and faculty moderators.

Damascus
Damascus is the retreat offered to Marist's seventh and eighth grade students. The retreat is offered on two Saturdays in September and October. Pairs of upperclassmen lead the retreat groups as students spend time sharing, praying, and playing together. Parents and families are invited to join us as we end the retreat with 10 p.m. Mass in Centennial Center. Each year the retreat changes, so students are encouraged to attend in both 7th and 8th grade.

Retreat Moderator: Mrs. Erin Paul and Ms. Laura McGregor.

Genesis
Genesis is the retreat offered to ninth grade students. There are three Genesis retreats, one during each term. The retreat is held at a location approximately 1 hour west of Marist School. This is a 24 hour retreat that is led by tenth grade students who previously participated in a Genesis retreat and who have undergone extensive training and spiritual mentoring to prepare for their leadership role. The retreat encourages participants to pray, meditate, and share about their friendships, especially their friendship with Jesus. Retreatants are chosen on a first come, first served basis. Turn in registration forms early!

Retreat Moderators: Mrs. Susanne Greenwood, Ms. Lyndsay MurphyMs. Jenni Login, and Mr. Robert Von Hagen

Nazareth
Nazareth is the retreat offered to tenth grade students. There are two retreats, one in October and one in January. The retreat is held at a location outside of Atlanta. It lasts about 24 hours and is led by the eleventh grade students who previously participated in a Nazareth retreat and who have undergone various training sessions to prepare them for leading small group discussions.

Students spend time praying, reflecting, sharing in a small group and doing recreational activities. The retreat encourages the students to focus on God, their family life and other relationships.

Retreatants are chosen on a first come, first served basis. Turn in registration forms early to reserve your spot!

Retreat Moderators: Mr. Brendan Murphy, Mrs. Barabara Rowley, and Mr. Stephen Lorys.

Emmaus

Emmaus is an open community of upper level students who are interested in spending time together each month in prayer and sharing. One joins Emmaus simply by attending the monthly meetings. A significant element of the Emmaus Community is an Emmaus retreat. Members may sign up for one retreat during the course of their junior or senior years. These retreat experiences offer students an opportunity to encounter Christ in each other over the course of a weekend.

The retreat is held at a retreat center in Alabama. Students who have made an Emmaus retreat become eligible to lead one of the retreats their senior year. Seniors who have made an Emmaus Retreat are eligible to attend the special "Senior Emmaus Retreat" held in May. Since applications to attend this retreat sometimes exceed the number that we can take, priority is given to those who faithfully attend the monthly meetings (generally the first Monday of the month), or who actively participate in other Emmaus activities throughout the year.

There are three retreats held annually in October, January, and February. Sign-up for all retreats takes place at the beginning of each school year, and more information about Senior Emmaus is announced in the spring. Spaces are usually limited, so look for the sign- up form in the summer mailing and turn it in early so that you are able to attend!

Retreat Moderators:  Fr. John Walls, SM , Mr. Jim Byrne, and Mrs. Amelia Luke.
