Seussical, Jr.
Book, music, and lyrics, by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty
Co-Conceived by Eric Idle
Based on the works of Dr. Seuss

All your favorite characters from the Dr. Seuss stories are brought to wondrous life in this funny and touching one-act musical.  The Cat in the Hat introduces us to Horton, an elephant who finds himself charged with two tasks:  to protect his tiny friend Jojo (and all the invisible Whos) from a tragic catastrophe, and to guard an abandoned egg. With a little help from Gertrude McFuzz, Horton endures a kidnapping, a bunch of rambunctious monkeys, and the trial of his life to emerge triumphant, showing us that the powers of trust, friendship, and community win out over adversity.

Fall Play

The Government Inspector
by Nikolai Gogol, adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher.

Set in 1836, this ridiculous comedy of errors is fast-paced and absolutely hysterical.  When the locals in a small Russian hamlet learn that an undercover government inspector is coming for a surprise visit, an unfortunate case of mistaken identity sends the whole village spiraling into a world of panic and greed. Witty, smart and wildly satirical, this timely and spirited adaptation of Nikolai Gogol's classic play exposes the corruption of a provincial town with biting hilarity.

Performance Dates:  September 22, 23, and 25.
One Act Musical

Lucky Stiff
Book by Lynn Ahrens
Music by Stephen Flaherty
Lyrics by Lynn Ahrens

This story revolves around an unassuming English shoe salesman who is forced to take the embalmed body of his recently-murdered Atlantic City uncle on a vacation to Monte Carlo.  Should he succeed in passing Uncle off as alive, Harry Witherspoon stands to inherit $6,000,000. If not, the money goes to the Universal Dog Home of Brooklyn, or else to the gun-toting wife of the casino owner!  A wondrous musical farce, complete with slamming doors, mistaken identities, six million bucks in diamonds, and a corpse in a wheelchair!

Performance Dates:  December 2 and 4.
