Head CoachAfter an outstanding high school football career at Decatur High School, Alan attended the University of Georgia on a football scholarship. He transferred to East Tennessee State University and in his senior season he led the Ohio Valley Conference in total offense and passing yardage. He was drafted in the 8th Round by the NFL Chicago Bears.
Coach Chadwick joined the Marist football staff in 1976 as Offensive Coordinator under Head Coach Dean Hargis. In 1985, he was named Head Coach and the 2024 season marks the 39th year in charge of the War Eagle program, the longest serving Head Coach in school history.
Coach Chadwick has received numerous honors and awards during his career at Marist. He was named Region Coach-of-the-Year 15 times (1987, 1988, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1994, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2003, 2012, 2013 and 2020), State AAA Coach-of-the-Year in 1989 and State AAAA Coach-of-the-Year in 2003 and 2020 by the Atlanta Touchdown Club for leading the War Eagles to State Championships.
In 1991, he received the Waymen Creel Coaching Award for his contribution to the high school coaching profession and in 2004 he received the R. L. ‘Shorty’ Doyal Award from the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association (GACA) for coaching excellence.
He was selected the 1997 NFL High School Coach-of-the-Year for Georgia, sponsored by the Atlanta Falcons, and received special recognition from the Atlanta Touchdown Club for achieving his 300th career win.
As the Head Coach at Marist, he has compiled a 431-80-0 overall record (84.3%), making him the winningest football coach, in both number of victories and winning percentage in school history. He ranks 2nd among all Georgia high school football coaches in wins.
