Join us as we delve into the deeper questions surrounding artificial intelligence (AI) and its impact on middle and high school education. This conference offers practical and philosophical grounding to help educators prioritize the human work at the heart of their vocation: the formation of young people.

Together, we will explore the fundamental questions surrounding AI in schools, including the moral and ethical framework for its use, and how we ensure that human dignity, relationships, and development remain at the center.

Conference Purpose Statement

AI is rapidly changing our world with its promises of increased productivity and easy answers. But for educators, AI raises urgent questions: What are the ethical, intellectual, and developmental complications of using AI in a classroom of adolescents? What and how should we teach our teenage students at the crucial time they are constructing identity, cultivating judgment, and developing moral reason?

This conference aims to ground participants in thinking critically about AI, its impacts, limitations, and complications. We will explore the importance of keeping human formation—not efficiency or automation—at the center of conversations around student development as we examine the social and ethical implications of AI.

This conference is not about implementing or adapting technology. We have no outside vendors or sponsors. We come together to think honestly and independently about the role of AI in our classrooms. Our focus will be the irreplaceable role of educators in accompanying young people as they grow as learners and as whole people. This is a conference about keeping human relationships and development at the core of adolescent education in an AI-driven age.
