Father Ralph Olek, S.M. Celebrates 50 Years of Marist Service

Father Ralph Olek, S.M. celebrated the 50th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood in May 2024. He began his journey toward becoming a Marist priest as a high school sophomore, just a few years older than the middle school students he has taught at Marist School for the past 47 years. Over the decades, Father Olek has had the unique privilege of teaching not only his students but also their children and grandchildren, creating a legacy of learning and faith that spans generations.

To commemorate this special occasion, Father Olek presided over a Mass in Esmond Brady Memorial Chapel. Surrounded by close friends and longtime colleagues, he reflected on a lifetime of service to the Church and the Marist community. A reception following the Mass offered a chance to celebrate the man who has touched the lives of so many students, alumni, and families over the decades.

Reflecting on his passion for teaching, Father Olek shared, “I have loved the students who come to Marist, the support of their parents and fellow teachers, and the freedom to teach what is important for students to become better writers … I feel blessed to have taught thousands of students and watch them grow into outstanding young men and women.”

Father Olek’s contributions to Marist School go far beyond his role as a 7th grade English teacher. Previously serving as a campus minister and now as the superior for the priests in the Marist Rectory, he is a cornerstone of the school community.

Marist School owes much of its spirit and success to the dedication of Marist priests like Father Olek. His steadfast commitment to fostering kindness, faith, and community inspires us all.
