In the National Spotlight

The TODAY show kicked off its 2025 “Friday Morning Lights” segment at Marist School with a high-energy celebration in Hughes Spalding Stadium. Students, athletes, cheerleaders, and the marching band showcased War Eagle spirit and honored Head Coach Alan Chadwick who, in his 50th year of coaching and 41st as head coach, marked his 450th career victory. The milestone further solidifies him as Georgia’s second-winningest high school football coach.

A Renewed Sacred Space

The newly named Mary’s Garden is a sacred space nestled between the Marist Rectory and Esmond Brady Memorial Chapel. Long a place of peace and quiet reflection, the existing courtyard has been transformed to feature a tranquil reflecting pool under the historic statue of Mary and Jesus, offering a beautiful setting for prayer and contemplation. The revitalization of the serene garden was made possible through the generosity of donors to the #iGiveCatholic campaign.

124 Years of Catholic Education

On October 2, the school community gathered for a Founders Day Mass, celebrating 124 years of Catholic education in Atlanta. The joyful event included a spontaneous “Happy Birthday” to Marist, honoring a legacy begun by the Society of Mary in 1901. Our upcoming 125th anniversary celebration will highlight Marist’s remarkable impact on generations of students and families.

We are Marist

At Schola Brevis in August, Student Council Co-Presidents Ryan Akin ’26 and Cece Watson ’26 introduced this year’s theme, We Are Marist, calling the school community to lead, serve, and uplift one another in the spirit of Mary.

Student Broadcasters Visit TNT Sports

Marist Broadcasting Club members explored careers in sports media during a behind-the-scenes visit to TNT Sports, where they toured NBA and NHL sets, joined editorial meetings, met with Ernie Johnson, Jr. ’74, and were featured live on air during a bump-in to the NBA Tip-Off show.

Kate Harpring ’26 represented Team USA in the U19 FIBA World Cup in the Czech Republic, helping lead the basketball team to a gold medal victory over top international competition.

Martin Shelar ’26 was selected to play in the 2025 PG All-American Classic at Petco Park in San Diego, an elite showcase featuring the nation’s top 60 high school baseball players.

Social studies teacher Mike Burns was named to the National Humanities Center’s Teacher Advisory Council for the 2025–2026 academic year.

Marist Football joined the Baltimore Ravens’ Caw to Action day of service by making more than 900 sandwiches for The Sandwich Project, showing support for Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton ’19.
