Marist School is leading the charge in integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into education, blending cutting-edge tools with traditional teaching to prepare students for a tech-driven world while upholding Marist core values. Faculty members are embracing AI through innovative classroom projects, professional development, and collaborative initiatives supported by the technology department.

Recent initiatives include an AI Integration Challenge, where teachers like Mr. Mike Burns and Mr. Troy Hall designed creative lesson plans that resonated with students while fostering critical thinking. Burns had students use AI to create social media content for “The Great Gatsby” characters, while Hall crafted an anthropology lab featuring an AI-generated scavenger hunt. Both projects engaged students deeply, sparking creativity and enthusiasm.

Faculty and staff are utilizing AI to enhance the Marist educational experience by improving creativity and resourcefulness. In theater productions, AI-generated projections enhanced storytelling, while Campus Ministry streamlined retreat processes using AI for feedback analysis and leader pairings. Faculty training sessions have equipped teachers and staff with tools like Flint, which fosters moral digital citizenship and practical applications by allowing both private accounts as well as a shared online space where teachers can set a virtual classroom, templates, and easy viewing and monitoring of all student-created content.

Principal Kevin Mullally says, “Marist approaches AI with creativity, curiosity, and caution, prioritizing ethical application and developing students' critical thinking to ensure that students can practice both proficiency with these tools as well as the responsibility to use them wisely beyond our campus.”

By integrating AI thoughtfully, Marist equips students to navigate and lead with integrity in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
