Community Service

Our Faith in Action

Serving others is essential to the Marist spirit. Following the example of Mary who shared Jesus’ message of love with the world, we reach out to those most in need—the poor, the marginalized, the underserved. Marist students learn to live their faith through service as they walk alongside and uplift fellow human beings. Community service is a graduation requirement at Marist, reflecting our strong belief in sharing the Marist mission by centering our focus on others.

Beyond participating in service projects individually, Marist students do service projects together with their teams and clubs and in classes.

Marists are called to be missionaries of prayer and missionaries of action.

Fr. Jean-Claude Colin, Founder of the Society of Mary

I have learned that service is all about enriching our souls and making others happier and their livelihoods better. We are called to serve others no matter their outward appearance, social status, or ability.

I have learned at Marist that serving others means so much more to the people we help.”

Andrew Albright ’24

During my time at Marist, I have learned that helping others isn’t just an abstract idea or something we do for an hour on a Saturday; service to others is every day. All the time. Marist has prepared me to lead by giving me a mission to help others in a Marist way in my day-to-day life.”

Camille Gipson ’25

I have learned that service isn’t something that solely helps those who the service is done for. Serving others helps us feel fulfilled and understand our place in the world.”

Musse Woldu ’24
