Marist Thespians Experience the Annual Georgia Thespian Conference

Thirty Marist thespians journeyed to Columbus, Ga., February 6-8, to participate in the annual Georgia State Thespian Conference (ThesCon).  ThesCon is one of the largest gatherings of high school theater students in the country. Over 5,000 students and their directors attend the Conference every year for a weekend of shows, workshops, performances, and auditions.
Marist Thespians saw five shows produced by other schools and took part in workshops ranging from dialects to improv to makeup effects to Shakespeare to the wonders of Beyonce’s choreography.
At ThesCon, students – or groups of students – can register to present Individual Events for adjudication.  Seventeen students presented four Individual Events at the Conference, and were rated as follows:
Duet: “I Will Never Leave You” from the musical, Sideshow, performed by Catherine Roddey and Kelly White
Group:  “When You’re an Addams,” from the musical,  The Addams Family, performed by Luis Bowen, Jacob Conley, Caroline Elledge, Jessica Forsstrom, Daniela Garcia, Ezra Gardner, Pilar Lee,  Sofia Macaluso, Olivia Morana, Olivia Nievera, Cecilia Reed, Hallie Jo Schroeder, Beri Tangka, Caitlyn Wanalista, and Charlie Whitehead
Superior (the Conference’s highest rating)
Duet: “You’re Nothing Without Me,” from the musical, City of Angels, performed by Jacob Conley and Charlie Whitehead
Solo: “What Did I Have That I Don’t Have?,” from the musical, On a Clear Day You Can See Forever,   performed by Catherine Roddey
We are very proud of the strong showing by Marist Thespians at ThesCon 2019!
