Marist Robotics Headed to District State Championship

Marist School’s First Robotics Competition (FRC) team has begun their journey to the 2019 state championship tournament.
In their first tournament in Gainesville, Ga., the team finished in sixth place overall and won the Industrial Design Award, which recognizes a team for the effective and efficient form and function of their entire machine.
During the team’s second tournament, which took place in Columbus, Ga., the Marist FRC team finished 19th overall, but were selected for an alliance with a top-seeded team and competed in the semi-final rounds. The team also won the Innovation in Control Award, which recognizes a team that demonstrates consistent, reliable, high-performing robot operations during autonomously managed actions.
In addition, FRC coach Mr. Christopher Michaud was named a finalist for the Woodie Flowers Award, which celebrates effective communication in the art and science of engineering and design. Woodie Flowers finalists are hailed as outstanding mentors who lead, inspire, teach, and empower their team.
The Marist FRC team will compete in the state championship tournament April 3-6 in Emerson, Ga.
