Marist Way Theme Announced for 2019-2020 School Year

On Friday, August 23, 2019 in Centennial Center, Marist School marked the start of the 2019-2020 school year with Schola Brevis and an opening assembly. Marist Principal Mr. Kevin Mullally welcomed the entire school community, particularly the new students and faculty as well as those returning.
Marist School President Father Bill Rowland, S.M. introduced the Marist Way theme for the academic year, Living Our Faith in Contemporary Society, and the associated core values of saying no to greed, pride, and power and saying yes to inclusivity and hospitality. Father Rowland said that the school community will live our faith with integrity through morning prayers, all-school Masses, Family Masses, and student events over the course of the school year. He described the unique role that seniors have as the oldest and most experienced students on campus and called upon the members of the Class of 2020 to lead by example.
Father Rowland encouraged those assembled to “use our power to love, to do good, to be kind, respectful, and helpful.” He added, “And remember, what makes something great in God’s eyes is the great love that is often expressed in the simplest and humblest of gestures.”
