Welcoming 2019-2020 Cristo Rey Student Interns to Marist
On Monday, September 9, 2019, Marist School welcomed four Cristo Rey Atlanta Jesuit High School students to campus for the Corporate Work Study Orientation Day. These students will serve as work study interns for the 2019-2020 school year.
Marist has partnered with Cristo Rey and its corporate work study program since the school’s founding in 2014. Cristo Rey students attend school from 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. four days per week. On another assigned day, students work at an Atlanta company, such as Home Depot, MARTA, and Turner Sports, among others. The work they do provides support for their education and opportunities for them to build valuable skills in the workplace. Meanwhile, they maintain a rigorous academic schedule that includes several APs and requires over 12 applications to competitive colleges.
The Cristo Rey student interns provide important support to the mission of Marist School and are valuable members of the Marist community. This year, for the first time, three students will work as lab technician and teaching assistants for the Business, Computer Science, & Engineering program. Through this program, Marist hopes to equip the interns with skills and knowledge in engineering and computer science so they may apply these skills to both their personal and professional goals. They will gain experience in running a laboratory environment that they can use in both college and career vocations.
One Cristo Rey student will support the youngest members of the Marist community as an intern with Marist’s Early Learning Center program.
Please extend a warm welcome to the Cristo Rey student interns as they settle into the Marist community.
