Marist Homecoming 2019

On Friday, October 4, the Marist School community—students and their families, faculty/staff, and alumni—came together for another memorable Homecoming. Throughout spirit week, students celebrated activities related to the “Homecoming Sweet Homecoming” theme, leading up to the spirit pep rally on Friday afternoon. Members of the Half Century Club, Marist alumni who graduated 50 or more years ago, returned to campus for a reception prior to the Homecoming Volunteer Appreciation Dinner in Centennial Center. Wally the War Eagle, the Marist cheerleaders, and the Marist Marching Band joined the festivities to help spread War Eagle Fever.
It was also a special night on the field as Marist honored new inductees into the Blue & Gold Athletics Circle, which recognizes individuals who make outstanding contributions to the school’s athletic program. Members of the 1989 football team also were celebrated during the game. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the 1989 football team going undefeated for the season and winning Marist’s first football state championship.

During halftime, the marching band performed music from the rock band Yes, and the Homecoming Court was announced and honored. Homecoming 2019 concluded with an impressive 56-13 win for the War Eagles over visiting team Chestatee. View photos from Homecoming 2019.
