GADA Hall of Fame

ATLANTA—Marist School Athletic Director Tommy Marshall has been selected as a member of the Class of 2015 Hall of Fame by the Georgia Athletic Directors Association. This honor is given to coaches in Georgia who have displayed great leadership and prominence during their careers.

Coach Marshall has been in athletic administration for 30 years and has been at Marist School for 19 years. His impact on Marist can be found in the numerous sportsmanship awards and state titles that are displayed on the walls and trophy cases throughout the school’s Centennial Assembly Center. Sports Illustrated named Marist the 15th ranked high school athletic program in America, and Marist has been awarded the GADA Directors Cup for Best Overall Athletic Program for 16 consecutive years, all under Coach Marshall. Before becoming athletic director at Marist, Marshall coached football, basketball, baseball, tennis and wrestling at the high school and college levels. As a football coach at Walton High School, he was named Cobb County Coach-of-the-Year for three consecutive years.

“People always have such admiration for Tommy, and I think that stems from his drive and compassion for others. Tommy has a sense of humility that is uncommon today,” said Chandler Yount, Marist School assistant director of athletics.

Coach Marshall attributed the award not only to his hard work but also to the many people who work to make Marist’s sports programs a success. “This award represents the tremendous efforts and support of Marist’s administration, faculty and staff, students and parents,” Marshall said.
