  • Marist School Names Clarence H. Smith '68 the St. Peter Chanel Award Recipient for 2017

    Marist School has announced that Clarence H. Smith '68 has received the school’s highest honor, the St. Peter Chanel Award. The award, named for the Marist saint who was martyred for his faith, is given annually in recognition of individuals whose selflessness, exceptional support, and enthusiastic leadership have advanced the mission of Marist School in a profound and fundamental way.

    2017-2018 Faculty and Staff Award Recipients Recognized

    Marist School has announced its faculty and staff award recipients for the 2017-2018 school year. The award recipients were recognized at Marist’s annual St. Peter Chanel Society Recognition Dinner held this year on Wednesday, October 18 at the Atlanta History Center.

  • Marist School President Father John Harhager, S.M. Elected Vicar General of the Society of Mary

    Marist School has announced that Father John Harhager, S.M., who has served as the school’s president for the past 10 years, has been elected vicar general of the Society of Mary, the religious congregation of priests and brothers that has owned and operated Marist School since 1901. In accepting his new role, which began immediately upon his election this week at a general chapter meeting in Rome, Italy where the Society of Mary has its headquarters, Father Harhager steps down as president of Marist School.

  • Middle School Cross Country Runners Bring Home State Championship Honors

    The Marist Middle School Cross Country team won the MS State Meet at Bleckley County Elementary School on Saturday by 51-points over Westminster, avenging a 5-point Runner-Up spot last season to Pace Academy which finished 3rd.

    The Lady War Eagles were led by Johna Grisik (5th) in a time of 13:31.90 for the 2-Mile course.  Followed close behind was Emily Delmonte (6th), Lily Murray (8th) and Kate Selover (9th).  Zoe Alvarez (28th), Paige Lange (30th) and Kate Huffstetler (35th) all ran with times under 15-minutes.

    The boy's team placed 9th overall with Raines Grassi (43rd) leading the War Eagle runners with a time of 13:06.63 followed by Ikenna Onwukeme (44th), James Cochran (56th), Ryan McTigh (62nd) and Grayson Balloon (69th) the Top 5 runners for Marist.  Everett Markwalter (82nd) and Arlo Lloyd (83rd) rounded out the Marist team runners.

  • John FitzPatrick Selected for GACA All-Star Game

    Marist TE/DE John FitzPatrick was selected to participate in the 2017 GACA North/South All-Star Classic in Macon on December 28.

    The GACA All-Star Classic is the longest running all-star game in the country and the most prestigious event in the state of Georgia.  The game will be played at Freedon Field in Macon.

  • War Eagle Views

    Softball
    The Lady War Eagles begin First Round State Playoff action today (Oct.11) hosting Oconee County at Kitchins Field in the start of the Best-of-3 Series with a doubleheader beginning at 3:30 p.m. Marist is the #1-Seed from Region 7-AAAA with a 14-10 overall record (7-1 region) and Oconee County is 17-11 (7-3 in Region 8-AAAA). Game 3 (if necessary) will be played Thursday at Marist.

    Volleyball
    The Lady War Eagles start their AAAA State Playoff action on Thursday (Oct. 12) in Centennial Center at 5 p.m. against LaGrange. Marist (35-3 overall) enters the playoffs as the #1-Seed defeating Chestatee 2-0 and Blessed Trinity 3-1 in the Region Tournament last week.

    Cross Country
    The Marist Harriers traveled to Cary, North Carolina for the Great American Cross Country Race last weekend. Most of the top teams in the Southeast attended and the War Eagles now turn their attention to preparations for the upcoming Region Meet (Oct. 26) at Unicoi State Park in Helen and the AAAA State Meet (Nov. 4) in Carrollton.

    Football
    The War Eagles are 6-0 heading into their Homecoming Game matchup with West Hall to open Region 7-AAAA action this Friday night at Hughes Spalding Stadium. West Hall (5-2 overall, 1-0 region) defeated Chestatee last week 28-14 to open their region schedule while Marist had an open date.
