Marist School Celebrates Homecoming 2022

Following a Gatsby-themed Spirit Week, Marist School celebrated Homecoming on Friday, October 21 with a tremendous win by the varsity football team over the North Atlanta Warriors.
The evening began by welcoming Half Century Club members, alumni who graduated 50 or more years ago, to a reception in Whitehead Cafeteria. The Homecoming Volunteer Appreciation Dinner also provided an opportunity to thank Advancement Office volunteers for their service to Marist.

Moments before kickoff, Marist inducted 11 new members into the Blue & Gold Athletics Circle and honored Dr. Louisa Moffitt and Bishop Joel M. Konzen, S.M. with the 2022 Service Award. The Blue & Gold Athletics Circle was established in 2003 to recognize those who have made outstanding contributions to Marist School athletics. Selection considers personal excellence in athletics, academics, and service to Marist and the community.

“Induction into the Blue & Gold Athletics Circle is the greatest athletic honor at Marist,” said Athletic Director Mr. Derek Waugh ’89. “It recognizes individuals who have achieved great athletic heights, provided extraordinary leadership to Marist athletes, or given incredible time and commitment to Marist athletics. Marist’s current and future success is a testament to all the great athletes, educators, and coaches who have come before them, and the Blue & Gold Athletics Circle represents the best of the best of those past leaders.”

Marist students crowned Homecoming Queen Katelyn Porter ’23 during halftime, and on Saturday, October 22, Marist high schoolers attended the traditional Homecoming Dance, A Gatsby Affair.

Katie Fowler Brown ’06, director of alumni engagement, remarked, “Homecoming week brings our Marist community together to nurture our relationships, foster new connections, and celebrate the accomplishments and traditions of our beloved school. We are grateful for this time spent with one another every year and to the Marist Alumni Association for making it all possible."
