The Invitation

All at Marist School are Called to “be Marist”

The Society of Mary’s unique mission is derived from the aims and efforts of the Marists but depends on the cooperation of so many others at Marist School who believe in what the Society of Mary stands for and wish to promote its way of living a Marian life in an active, apostolic context.

  • Live and share the Five Pillars of the Marist Way of life

List of 5 items.

  • Prayer

The spiritual life is nourished and sustained by contemplation of the word of God. This heightens awareness of the presence of the risen Jesus in the everyday life and work of Marists. His presence inspires them to make of their lives an unceasing prayer (Marist Constitutions, paragraph 118).
  • Community

Community prayer is vital for those who undertake a spiritual and apostolic venture together. It is an expression of faith and solidarity, and demands a creative search for new forms, such as reading the Scriptures together in faith, shared prayer, and reflection (Marist Constitutions, paragraph 119).
  • Learning

All must apply themselves diligently to the acquisition of learning and the skills required for the work of Mary (Marist Constitutions, paragraph 26). The humility that characterizes the apostolate of any Marist person does not exclude high levels of academic achievement or professional excellence (Marist Constitutions, paragraph 27).
  • Service

Marists (person) will find joy in sharing what they have with other Marists throughout the world and with the people around them. Aware that time, talents, and education constitute riches, a Marist (person) willingly places these also at the service of others (Marist Constitutions, paragraph 109).
  • Vocation

Since their vocation is to be a special presence of Mary in today’s world and doing God’s work in her way, Marists bear in mind this woman who by a gracious choice called them and gave them their name (Marist Constitutions, paragraph 144). All those who call themselves “Marist,” ordained or lay persons, are called to this vocation to be Mary in the world.
