More than 500 parents, alumni, faculty, and staff flocked to Ivy Street Center on Saturday, February 11 for Marist School’s biennial auction, a joint fundraising event coordinated by the Parents’ Club, Booster Club, and Marist Arts Guild. This year’s theme was Havana Nights. Kuhrt Gym was turned into Little Havana with string lights, a huge dance floor, Cuban-themed foods, and even a hand-rolled cigar station. The evening included a silent and live auction, dinner, dancing, and music by Moxie Band.
Each year the Marist Alumni Association recognizes three individuals for their exceptional service to Marist School and to their community. The 2017 alumni award recipients were recently honored at a luncheon held on April 12 at the Cherokee Town Club.
When Marist’s campus store opened at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 13, there was already a 90-minute wait outside of the doors. But it wasn’t the new spring attire or Lilly Pulitzer agenda that people were lining up to purchase. It was tickets to Shrek: the Musical!, Marist School’s spring theater offering, which was performed in Woodruff Auditorium on March 23-25.
Marist School recognized Women’s History Month in a variety of ways throughout March, which is the month during which the United States celebrates the vital role of women in society. For the Lenten week of March 20, Campus Ministry and the Office of Inclusion & Diversity focused on “Respect for Women,” planning activities that included daily prayer intentions centered on women and an all-school service project.
