Marist Seniors Earn National Accolades for Academic Excellence

Marist School proudly recognizes 26 students for their outstanding academic achievements and national honors from the National Merit Scholarship Program and College Board National Recognition Programs. These accomplished scholars have demonstrated exceptional academic performance that will support their continued success in college and beyond.
This year, Marist seniors Adriana Acevedo, Nicole Barrios, Isabella Ferrer, Daniel Garcia, Daniella Ortiz, Lydia Rodrigues, Diego Soza, and Isabella Zapata have been named National Hispanic Recognition Scholars, while seniors Lulya Afeworki, Natalia Daniel, Kyle Geathers, Gabrielle Lindsay, Zikoora Nwogu, Gabrielle Ovadje, Afrie Theodros, Musse Woldu, and Liya Zenebe have been designated National African American Recognition Scholars by the College Board. To qualify for these distinctions, students must score highly on the Preliminary SAT (PSAT) and excel academically. Students must be in the top 10% of PSAT entrant scores in Georgia or score three or higher on two or more AP exams by junior year. As Program Scholars, they join an elite group of students who have shown remarkable academic promise.

In addition, seniors Andrew Albright, Brennan Ujda, Casey Comerford, Alex Lee, Jake Slovensky, Sarah Schmid, Gracie Stokes, Alex Treanor, and Parker Hess have been named Semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program, placing them among the top 16,000 high-achieving students out of 1.5 million nationwide. These talented seniors have earned the distinction of being named Semifinalists due to their outstanding performance on the PSAT, placing them among the top scorers in Georgia and comprising less than 1% of high school seniors nationwide. As Semifinalists, they will have the chance to continue competing for National Merit Scholarships and the prestigious Merit Scholar title.

Marist School applauds these exemplary students for their dedication to academic excellence and national achievement. Their accomplishments provide a strong foundation as they prepare for college, careers, and lives of leadership and service. We believe their commitment to reaching their full God-given potential will allow them to make meaningful contributions to the world. Congratulations to these outstanding Marist students!
