Has the topic of race ever turned into an uncomfortable conversation with friends or family? Have you wanted to talk to your children about current events related to race but not known where to start?
Race is a difficult and sometimes uncomfortable conversation. However, it is an important discussion for us as people of faith, and it is an important topic as we prepare our children to be leaders in a global society.
To help us start or continue these important conversations, all are invited to read "Living into God’s Dream". Edited by Dr. Catherine Meeks, this quick read presents a collection of essays addressing race from the faith perspective. The Counseling Department and Office of Inclusion & Diversity will host a book discussion facilitated by Dr. Meeks on Monday, September 17, 6:30 pm.
“We must put human dignity again at the center and on that pillar build the alternative social structures we need. It must be done with courage, but also with intelligence, with tenacity but without fanaticism, with passion but without violence."
-- Pope Francis, October 28, 2014
