The first Marist School girl’s tennis team was formed in 1978, two years after girls were admitted into Marist.  During the 1980s, the team would win 6 State Championships and in 1987, State Champions from all over the United States competed in Texas with the Marist girls coming away with the National High School Championship.

From 1990 through 1994, Marist would finish 2nd in state competition but would break through in 1995 with the program’s first State Championship in team tournament format. From there, the program would continue to win 6 consecutive State Championships.  Moving up to the AAAA classification in 2001, the girls again won State Championships in 2001 through 2006, a state record of 12 consecutive titles. The twelve consecutive titles rank 3rd in the national record books for high school tennis.

This decade, the girl’s program has competed in 7 state championships matches, winning 5 of them with their most recent title coming in 2019.
